Source: Ragnarok Manwha Hours to Construct: Over 150 hours without a doubt Worn at: Fan Expo 2005 Status: Active Award(s): Best in Show workmanship, Best Master, Best Anime
Inspiration: My friends wanted to do a Ragnarok online group...but to be honest, I haven't played much of RO (besides Ragnarok Battle Offline...which is AWESOME btw). Ryobu lent me his Ragnarok manwha and I got heavily addicted LOL Sara Irene had such an AWESOME costume and that "cool" factor. And since my Ryobu was planning to do Skurai the knight version...it was a must!!
Favorite aspect: The majority of the costume was done in a SINGLE WEEK!!!! w00t!!! I loved the orange panels that made up the "skirt." They were really pretty and truly brightened up the costume. Fabric painting them both sides of each panel was a pain, but it made it so much more lovely!! I also loved the accessories at my waist: Korean pouch, knife of chastity and some circle thing was really cute! I never usually have a bunch of accessories in my cosplays, so it was lots of fun in making them ^_^
Least favorite aspect: Wearing a bikini bottom O_O I think a lot of regular congoers thought I was wearing my underwear.... But cosplayers clearly knew what I was wearing LOL And the heavy weight of the wig....the wig is long itself but I added extensions to make it longer and to do the inner braid. O gosh. And finally..the PRICE. I didn't expect to spend this much...but it actually had to work out at about $200 Canadian O_O The wig itself was about $40-50, fabrics were about $60 (all were high quality, kudos to the fabric district!), embroidery floss, tons of fabric paint, satin ribbon (tons of it!), black yarn, shoes, and of course the wood, gesso, paint, enamel for the sword.
Hardest task: The dragon embroidery on the back that no one saw. Or maybe it was the sewing each individual satin ribbon trim on the sleeves...
Comments: First time cosplaying an "evil villian" and it is definitely a lot of fun getting into character. First time having a weapon too, lots of fun with posing with it!
