PlayStation 5 lag issues
Hey there,
Troubleshooting issues on console will be a bit more limited than they would be on PC. The console is a closed system and doesn’t allow of the same level of troubleshooting that a PC environment would. Additionally, because your connection must also go through the console network there is an extra layer to your connection that we have no ability to troubleshoot as well.
In these situations we can verify whether our services are running and if we have any widespread connection issues with our network/ISP and then offer some very basic advice.
We are not seeing any widespread reports of what you are seeing. (forums have been fairly quiet recently) But that doesn’t mean there can’t be a larger issue.
Still most of the time especially in one off situations, the culprit is likely something local to the console, client or network/connection itself.
The following steps should tackle all of those potential causes. However if you have any offline characters, you won’t be able to do a couple of these steps because they will wipe that local data. So be careful.
I recommend turning off all systems including the router and modem for at least 60 seconds, boot the modem back up, wait until its fully rebooted, repeat with the router and then turn back on any connected systems.
You can try switching your DNS settings to use a free public DNS servers instead of your ISPs Servers:

The Best Free and Public DNS Servers (March 2023)
A list of the best public and completely free DNS servers, plus how to change them. This DNS server list was last updated in March 2023.
We do not have individual steps for specific modems or routers so if you need assistance accessing or updating the devices, contact the device maker/provider.
Do you have the ability to try another of the same console on this network? Or can you take your console and connect to a different network? See if the issue changes at all. That can tell you if the issue is specific to the console, a network specific issue or an issue with the console network itself.
These 2 steps will remove any local save data and will wipe any offline characters so only perform them if you do not have offline characters or do not care if they are wiped.
Uninstall and Reinstall the Game client on the console.
Reset the Console to factory Defaults.
If the steps above did not resolve your problem we recommend contact your console’s manufacturer for more assistance:
