When in werebear form, maul your enemies for increasing extra damage with successive hits.
Maul is the Druid's level 12 Shape Shifting attack, requiring Werebear; it unlocks Fire Claws and Shock Wave. It can only be used as a bear (restrict 2). It is a melee attack that builds charges: every hit that lands adds one, and each charge is worth +30% damage, +3% attack speed and a longer stun for 20 seconds. The numbers that decide it are the charge cap, 3 at level 1 and 13 at level 20, which makes the top damage bonus +390% at level 20, and the attack rating, +325% at level 20.

lvl ÷ Param7 + Param8 = lvl ÷ 2 + 3, integer division: 3 at level 1, 5 at level 5, 8 at level 10, 13 at level 20, 18 at level 30.damagepercent = Param3 × charge level. The tooltip prints a range from 30 (one charge, a constant, not in the table) to 30 × the charge cap: +390% at level 20, +540% at level 30.attackrate = Param1 × charge level, a bonus to your attack rate: 3 to 39 at level 20. The Basin notes this line is D2R only.dm56 between Param5 (10) and Param6 (100) frames, capped at 250 frames, ÷ 25 for seconds, applied as stunlength at the charge level. The tooltip line reads the skill level where the stat reads the charge level, so it overstates: the Basin says the description "displays maximum stun length as though skill level were used, not charge level", and its table gives the real maximum as 3.08 seconds at level 20 (13 charges), not the 3.4 shown.Every line reads lvl, so +skills from items raise the attack rating and the charge cap (one more charge every two levels), and through the cap the top damage, attack speed and stun.
Maul is a melee attack that rolls your attack rating against the target's defense (Chance to Hit) and deals your weapon's physical damage with the charge bonus, through Dealing Physical Damage. The Basin describes the charges: after the first hit the charge-1 damage and stun apply for the duration; every later hit resets the duration and raises the charge level, with the new values applying to the next hit, until the cap. The stun is a stun length on the target, see Hit Recovery and Stun. The Basin adds that switching to another attack keeps the damage bonus and the stun on it until the duration expires, and that weapon speed and weapon increased attack speed remain the main factors in the attack rate; the per-charge attack speed is a bonus on top of those, see Attack Speed.
The charges are per hit that lands, and they fall off 20 seconds after the last one: a miss builds nothing, and the first hit on a fresh pack is at +30%, not +390%.
No synergies on Maul's own lines, and the row has no synergy calc. Maul gives a synergy to Shock Wave, whose tooltip lists it; see that page for the line. Maul's hit rides on Werebear's damage and defense and on Lycanthropy's life, but those are the form's lines, not this skill's.
A player's hit on another player is cut to 17% of its value (difficultylevels.txt PlayerDamagePercentVSPlayer) before anything else, see Player versus Player. The Basin's page says nothing more about Maul against players, including nothing about the stun.
Written from the game's tables (build 3.3.93847) and the cited pages; a per-level table is computed from skills.txt and skilldesc.txt by the same evaluator the skill pages use. A “legacy rule” is a published engine rule no table proves; a “game table” is read from the table named. · Report incorrect data
