Installed D2R a month ago... GFX card now fried. (Gtx 2060 Super)
“This is the response I got… They completely ignore the fact that crashing Thousands of times my have an effect on GPU’s performance and completely bricking some of them. They also try to blame the problem on a TDR error from 12/01/20 — But, Never had a problem with ANY other game or application. *Howdy Shawn, I’m Technical Specialist Zeadom! I read here after you started to play Diablo II:…”
Showny,
I looked over this reply and the files you sent support, and it’s pretty clear that this isn’t on our end. The previous support agent is completely correct. You’ve been having Blue Screen of Death and GPU crashes since October of 2020 in the MSInfo you sent us. Here are the BSOD codes I found looking over your MSInfo.
Bug Check 0xD1 DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL - Windows drivers | Microsoft Learn (First one of these was in October 2020.)
Bug Check 0x10E VIDEO_MEMORY_MANAGEMENT_INTERNAL - Windows drivers | Microsoft Learn (First one of these was in March 2021.)
For the last 12 months at least you’ve been having LiveKernelEvents as well with Windows Timeout Detection and Recovery. You might be able to reach out to your GPU manufacturer and see if you can get some form of warranty exception on these grounds as well, but as far as I can tell here, your GPU hasn’t been healthy for almost as long as you’ve had it, and you’ve just been dealing with the GPU driver crashes for the last 14 months.
While it’s true that there are some game engine bugs that we’ve been working on that cause game crashes, the PC crashes you’ve been experiencing are unrelated to this, and we cannot damage your GPU directly. Windows and your GPU itself both have protections against this. Unless you manually overclocked or otherwise disabled those protections, the only way your GPU would die due to normal use would be if it was defective or suffered damage at some point due to power issues, hardware failure, etc.
I highly recommend that you review the reply and the information in this post and see if you can use the MSInfo file you sent us as grounds for a replacement GPU as an exception to your warranty, since there’s evidence of stability errors going back this far.
Whatever you choose from here, best of luck. I hope this has provided a bit more insight as to why you got the reply you did.
