Constant Crashing
“I can play on my my laptop, though the lag is for some reason horrific even with all the graphical settings dropped to the minimum. Still can’t even get into the game at all from my normal computer, though the latest attempt did at least yield a crash report window this time with the following identifier: 6A0E6290-E965-488D-B816-9726106588D5 Why would the game go from running for weeks without a…”
Howdy!
This occurrence error is related to the game suddenly failing to acquire the memory needed to run. This can be due to an Access Violation (Think third party software conflict like overlay, screen recording, overclocking or general software running in the background that utilizes the same resources as the game resulting in a conflict.)
I recommend the following steps before retesting the game:
Disable Windows Startup items by following the steps Here. Instead of restarting the PC move to step 2:
Download and perform a clean install of the latest NVIDIA driver located Here. Once downloaded run the installer, when you get to the Install Options section select: Custom (Advanced) → Next → Check Mark: Perform a clean installation → Finish the installation and restart the PC.
Once back into Windows press (Windows key + R) Type in: C:\Users
Press Enter. Open up your Windows User name folder → Open: Saved Games folder. → Diablo II: Resurrected → Delete only the Settings.json file. This will reset the game back to default settings.
Retest the game.
