Legitimately curious about this. Download speed discrepancy
Hey Wolfetime,
One thing that you have to keep in mind when you’re talking about download speed is the difference between MB/s and Mb/s. Notice the big B versus the little b. The big B stands for Bytes while the little b stands for bits. There’s 8 bits in every byte, so that means the download speed in MB/s is going to be about 1/8th of the download speed displayed in Mb/s.
Internet providers often advertise their internet packages in Mb/s (or Mbps) meaning that they show you the bigger number (bigger of course looks better than smaller numbers).
Other downloaders and applications may display the download speed in Mb/s, but the Battle.net app always displays in MB/s.
You mentioned you have a 100meg connection but then later mentioned you have a 1gig connection. Go on a speed testing website and see what your download speed is. If you were seeing around 12-13 MB/s download in the Battle.net app then you probably have 100 Mb/s download speed.
Hope this helps!
