The bands are the game's tables: the base's gemsockets capped by its item type's MaxSockets for item levels up to 25, up to 40 and above. The cube recipe (Ral Rune + Amn Rune + Perfect Amethyst, a normal unsocketed weapon) rolls 1 to 6 sockets at even odds and holds the roll to the maximum. Larzuk gives a normal, superior or low-quality item the maximum, a magic item one or two, a rare, set or unique item one. The cube's odds and Larzuk's rule are published rules, not table values. Low quality ones are named “Crude”, “Cracked”, “Damaged”, “Low Quality”; their reduced numbers are set in the game's code, not its tables.
