Trap that sprays fire at passing enemies.
Wake of Inferno is the top of the Assassin's fire traps (Traps tree, level 24, requires Wake of Fire; it unlocks nothing). Laid on the ground, it sprays a jet of flame at whatever comes close, ten times, like a planted Inferno. The numbers that decide it are the fire damage per second, 308–359 at level 20, and the reach of the jet, which only hard points in Wake of Fire extend.

The damage columns are stored in 1/256ths with a HitShift of 4 and the tooltip prints them ×12 as damage per second (the Basin's page gives the same ×12 for D2R against ×25/3 in the old game). Each point of EMinLev is worth 0.75 displayed damage (16 ÷ 256 × 12), so from 15–37 at level 1 the minimum grows by 12.75 a level to level 8, 15.75 to 16, 19.5 to 22, 24 to 28 and 29.25 past that (EMinLev1–5 are 17, 21, 26, 32, 39), and the maximum by 14.25, 17.25, 21, 25.5 and 30.75 (EMaxLev1–5 are 19, 23, 28, 34, 41), floored on display: 308–359 a second at level 20, 549–615 at level 30. +skills count.
The jet's range is the one line the evaluator cannot print, because the current game's value lives on the monster-skill row the sentry fires with. The tooltip's calc is (Param3 ÷ 2 + Wake of Fire hard points) ÷ 3 yards with Param3 = 40 and Param4 = 0 a level: 6.67 yards bare, plus a third of a yard per hard point in Wake of Fire, 13.33 yards with 20. The Basin's older page prints 7.5 + 0.375 a point; the table wins. Shots are Param1, 10 at every level; mana a flat 20.
The sentry is a summon (pet type "assassintrap") and takes one of the 5 sentry slots (petmax) the Basin says the Assassin and her Shadow share across Blade Sentinel and the five sentries; a sixth dispels the oldest. The Basin's page says it is laid with the attack rate, must be placed in line of sight, then fires at targets within its own line of sight and awareness range, which it gives as 8 2/3 yards; it cannot be targeted or harmed and expires after its ten shots.
Each shot, the Basin says, is a burst of piercing size-1 missiles that deal fire damage on collision, and the burst lasts 15 frames plus one per hard point in Wake of Fire. The printed figure is damage per second; what a target takes depends on how long it stands in the jet.
No attack rating is rolled; the damage is fire, and the row's three passive stats pass the Assassin's Fire Skill Damage, Enemy Fire Resistance Reduction and fire sundering to the trap (the Basin's page says the same of D2R). It carries no weapon damage: no leech, Crushing Blow or Open Wounds. See Dealing Elemental Damage.
The awareness range (8 2/3 yards, the Basin) is longer than the bare jet (6.67 yards): a bare sentry can fire at a target it cannot reach. Twenty hard points in Wake of Fire push the jet to 13.33 yards, past the trigger range.
EDmgSymPerCalc reads the hard points in Fire Blast and Wake of Fire and multiplies the sum by Param8 (18): +18% fire damage per hard point in either. Wake of Fire's hard points also extend the jet and the burst as above. +skills raise the sentry's own level and damage, not the synergy or the range. Wake of Inferno's own hard points are +11% to Fire Blast and +10% to Wake of Fire. The Basin says the Shadow Warrior and Shadow Master can lay it too.
A player's hit on another player, and a pet's, is cut to 17% of its value (difficultylevels.txt PlayerDamagePercentVSPlayer) before resistances, see Player versus Player. The Basin's page says nothing else specific about players.
Written from the game's tables (build 3.3.93847) and the cited pages; a per-level table is computed from skills.txt and skilldesc.txt by the same evaluator the skill pages use. A “legacy rule” is a published engine rule no table proves; a “game table” is read from the table named. · Report incorrect data
